Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has passed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "one day without joy".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
Following the tragedy, public personalities expressed varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering provocative statements that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan characterized the comments as "shocking" and remarked they revealed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an associate could have acted when the choice to speak on the passing was made.
